Most of the rest of our time in the States was spent at the cottage. We had a lot of fun exploring further the area around Cheboygan and the "Tip of the Mitt."
Charlie started making this face all the time this summer while he was playing. It made me laugh so hard and if you tried to do it back to him he had no idea what you were doing (i.e. no idea he was doing it himself). He kept it up for several months but has mostly grown out of it now.
Labor Day weekend was our last weekend in MI and Up North and Dave's sisters and brother-in-law joined us for the weekend (Dave's parents were of course up there the whole time). And Labor Day came in in true Michigan style with a cold, wet, windy storm ushering in the fall weather.
We also had a nice visit from Dave's aunt Sue and cousin Brian and his family.
We returned to Detroit two days before our return flight to Bahrain and spent lots of time doing our final stock-up shopping and seeing my family. We were also able to see Mark & Amy one more time.
As much as we were sad to leave our family and friends, I was also ready to get back into some routine. I was very aware of Davey's school starting on Sept 15th and we were only leaving on the 9th. It was a wonderful summer and we certainly look forward to next year... it won't come soon enough!!
